As I got into more technical rock crawling, I feared that the stock 8.8” axle might be a liability. I decided that a Ford 9” axle from a 79 Bronco would be the best upgrade.
I would have gone with a Sterling 10.25 or D60, but the costs would bave been prohibitive. I would have had to purchase new rims and swapped the front end to 8 lug. I chose an ARB air locker for the rear differential, with 4.11 gears. This matched up with the 4.09 front gears. At the same time I added a york air system from Sabreforce. I used a Sun 2.5 gallon tank bolted to the rear floor area as a resrvoir.
